Maggie Caudell

“My first love at school was always painting but then I realised that I had to earn money ….. work, children and time went by …. finally, I restarted painting three years ago when a generous friend gave me the tools! Why she did so, I’ll never know. I do a lot of walking with my collie, mainly on the coast, by rivers and in woods. I love the scenes that surround us in this beautiful part of the world. These are a constant inspiration with the changing colours as we move through the seasons. Five years ago I walked the entire South West Coast Path and this, too, showed me amazing seascapes that I revisit as often as possible.
I learn from my more experienced painting colleagues and recently took a short course, Seascapes and Landscapes, with Paul Lewin at Newlyn School of Art. Paul’s use of watercolours and other mediums, gave me the confidence to experiment and paint in the way that I had done as a teenager.”
