Wareham Art Club was founded in 1991 and we were extremely fortunate at the start to obtain as our President, John Bowen, a professional artist and for many years head of the Art and Design department at Bournemouth and Poole College. John was not just a brilliant artist but an inspiring and supportive teacher and was an inspiration to the club and its members. Very sadly John passed away on 17th February 2020 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. and in his son Rob’s words, ‘He had been able to continue living a rich and colourful life throughout his treatment and although frequent hospital trips were necessary at different times, he was resolute to the end’. We will be leaving these pictures on the website as a tribute to John and hope that we can add to them in the future.
